CHAPTER 13
Saving & Settings
Battle Astra separates durable campaign state from temporary battle presentation and saves only at points where the strategic map can be restored safely.
SAFE CAMPAIGN SAVES
Autosave after a completed turn
Campaign autosaves occur after turn completion, when fleet routes, battles, ownership changes, neutral claims, scoring, and ship construction have finished resolving.
Saving at a stable turn boundary avoids recording half-completed fleet paths or temporary battle handles. Battles themselves do not need to be resumed midway.
WAR SETTINGS
Create a named campaign save
- 1
Open war settings
Use the settings icon on the war map to open the campaign drawer.
- 2
Enter a name
Select the reusable text field and type the campaign name.
- 3
Save
The Save control is enabled only when the field contains text. A successful save changes the label to CAMPAIGN SAVED and disables repeated saving until the name changes.
- 4
Clear or edit
Editing the name makes Save available again. Clear empties the name field; it does not delete an existing saved campaign.
RESTORE A WAR
Load Campaign
Select Load Campaign on the start screen to open the saved-campaign list. Choose a save to restore its map, factions, units, ownership, score, turn, settings, and campaign history.
Map data is stored separately from war state so a region can eventually be reused or edited without treating temporary graphical handles as saved game data.
AUDIO AND PACE
Set sound and movement speed
Sound effects
Toggle effects and set their volume. Disabled audio controls gray their associated rheostats.
Music
Toggle music and set music volume. Saved settings are restored when the game launches.
Voice
Toggle spoken announcements and set their volume independently. Audio settings are shared across game, war, battle, and inspector settings.
Fleet movement speed
Change the duration of campaign fleet movement animations without changing move order.
Ship movement speed
Change the pace of tactical movement and battle presentation without changing combat rules.
DISPLAY PREFERENCES
Choose how information appears
War Settings offers Sector IDs and System Names toggles. Fleet Move Speed changes animation speed, not movement range or game rules.
Battle and Inspector Settings offer Zone Messages, Ship Names (names, classes, or unmarked), Object Outline (purple outlines on or off), Zone IDs (none, numbers, or coordinates), and Back Stars.
Battle Settings additionally offers Wave Scan and Combat Text. Battle Move Speed changes movement animation duration, not movement range or combat rules. Map brightness uses the two icons on the tactical map.
LEAVE A CAMPAIGN
Resign or close the drawer
Resign From Game in War Settings asks for confirmation before ending the current war. Exit or touching outside closes only the settings drawer and returns to the map.
Resign Battle in Battle Settings asks for confirmation before conceding a Quick Battle. It is hidden during a Campaign Battle. Close Panel or touching outside returns to the battle map. Inspector Settings uses Exit or a touch outside to return to the inspector.
Before resigning from a campaign you intend to revisit, verify that an autosave or named save exists.
TUTORIAL CARDS
Dismiss, hide, and restore tutorials
Select Close or touch outside to dismiss a tutorial card. Select Do Not Show This Message Again before closing to hide only that tutorial.
If the card is longer than its window, drag the text or the right-hand scrollbar to read the rest.
Reset Tutorial in Game Settings restores every hidden tutorial. It is disabled when none are hidden. The bottom hint continues to offer guidance for the current situation, and Field Manual opens help in your browser.
STARTUP AND DIAGNOSTICS
Game Settings
Sound Effects, Music, and Voice each have an on/off control and a volume bar. Audio changes are shared with the other settings drawers.
Play Intro controls the opening sequence. Close saves the preferences and returns to the start screen.
Export Error Log becomes available when a diagnostic entry exists. On a device it opens system sharing; on a computer it shows where the file was saved.
